We're always looking for top-of-the-line real-time captioners who are both trained and experienced in the closed-captioning industry.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a speed of 180-220 WPM.
  • Must have real-time closed captioning software.
  • Must have two computers; one for backup.
  • Must have three phone lines; one may be a cellphone if it works at home.
  • Must have back-up internet.
  • Must be on time, follow directions, responsible and open to feedback.

Junior Caption Editor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Listening to and creating captions/subtitles for TV shows, movies, educational programs, corporate training videos, and Christian-based/religious programming
  • Transcribing video files using a foot pedal or Voice writing (experienced stenographers also accepted)
  • Editing already-written transcripts for punctuation, grammar, and accuracy
  • Completing captioning and subtitling projects using captioning/subtitling software (no prior experience needed as you will be trained on how to use the software)
  • Using information technology: Microsoft Office, Internet, and captioning/subtitling software program.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Touch Type: a minimum of 50 words per minute (WPM) you will be tested

You will be selling to businesses our live and post-production closed captioning and multi-language subtitling services during business hours (7:30 am-4:30 pm for at least the first year).

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Seeking a Sales Account Executive (inside sales, B2B) to join our growing sales team. Heavy phone and computer use.
  • The focus is on Christian television program producers, government agencies, educational institutions, corporations, & post-production houses.
  • No restrictions on sales territory—national and international.
  • Database with thousands of leads provided.
  • Emphasis will be placed upon the ability to consistently make your target amount of phone calls daily, develop relationships with potential and current clients, and close sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Study, learn, and understand the technical aspects and solutions of closed captioning & subtitling.
  • Make around 60-100 sales calls a day – 90 min+ of actual phone time per day.
  • Solicit and provide captioning & subtitling solutions to prospective clients.
  • Build a strong network of new business contacts and develop long-term, repeat business relationships.
  • Understand Aberdeen's values and develop solutions that best meet customers' needs and budgets.
  • Composition of proposals specific to each client and their respective projects.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLSET:

  • Must be technically savvy and be able to completely understand a technically-based product and workflow. You will be responsible for providing a technical solution based on the clients' video editing/file-based workflow.
  • You need to be a "thinker" and be able to provide the best TECHNICAL solution to prospective clients.
  • You must have at least a BA or BS degree from an accredited university (NOT an online university).
  • A minimum of 2 years of sales experience.

Junior Sales Support Specialist

Responsible for researching programming schedules, pre-qualifying leads, identifying decision-makers, and assisting our Sales Team to win new clients. The goal is for this individual to grow into an Inside Sales Account executive in 18-24 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research: Work with Sales & Marketing Coordinator, as well as Sales Support Specialist to research new potential leads via many different resources, including but not limited to: trade shows, broadcast schedules, television stations, and marketing leads. (3 hours per day)

Video Broadcast QC and Delivery Technician

We are looking for a Video Broadcast QC & Delivery Technician to join our dynamic-fun team. This person is a key member of the file delivery team, responsible for the quality control and delivery of long-form media to television stations and online platforms around the world. 

The ideal candidate will have a background in broadcast video and post-production with experience in NLE systems, video platforms, and familiarity with transcoding software. The primary responsibilities of this position are to perform quality control and digital delivery of long-form content (4-7 hours per day depending on load). This position will also help to maintain the workflows and software of our broadcast transcoding and file delivery service. Candidates must be comfortable with client interactions via the telephone.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform high volume Quality Checks on videos in the "digital format" only before delivery to stations.
  • Provide customer service follow-ups with clients who have non-conforming videos.
  • Track video transcoding and file delivery status among different software applications/systems.
  • Recommend content/workflow/quality process improvements, as needed.
  • Interact with and support customers and vendors, as necessary.
  • Provide client updates and requests based on issues arising in QC/Delivery.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High attention to detail.
  • Skilled in PC/Mac systems; MS Office applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Be comfortable acting as a technical resource to other departments to address and resolve problems.
  • Customer service focus, both internal and external to Aberdeen.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of encoding standards/elements (codecs, wrappers, GOP structure, aspect ratio, profiles, bitrates, etc.).
