Closed Captioning Grammar Tips

Aberdeen sends out transcription tips bimonthly as a tool for helping our Operations Team perfect our transcription and captioning skills. Transcription can be difficult when you are transcribing homophones (words that sound the same but are spelled differently). Our mission is to strive for excellence and these tips keep us knowledgeable and informed!

Here were two examples from last week.

Faze or phase?

Faze means to disturb or worry.

A phase is a period or stage (phases of the moon).

Tenet or tenant?

A tenet is a belief that somebody holds; an opinion, doctrine or dogma.

A tenant is someone who lives in an apartment or house.
